Bask in the Benefits of an Aromatherapy Bath

AUTHOR: Shara Yuni

Aromatherapy Bath
It’s not always easy to unwind after a stressful day. Exercise can help, but may leave your body and mind too stimulated for the deep physical and mental relaxation our bodies need to rejuvenate. Watching TV may help drown out out your anxiety, but it will likely do little to uplift your spirits. Studies now show that relying on a couple of alcoholic drinks to relax and prompt a good night’s sleep may have just the opposite effect.

So what’s the perfect solution to bring a hectic day to a peaceful close? An age old remedy with a simple twist, aromatherapy baths provide the answer.

What Makes a Bath an Aromatherapy Treatment?

Soaking in a simple hot bubble bath can help relax tired muscles and soothe your soul. So what’s so special about an Aromatherapy bath?

Aromatherapy baths provide the mind and body with the benefits of essential oils. Essential oils are absorbed into the body via the sense of smell and enter the bloodstream directly via the skin during a bath. Depending on the particular oils or oil products used in the bath, a variety of benefits ensue.

Favorite aromatherapy bath essential oils include lavendar, chamomile, rosemary and aloe. These and many other essential oils make an aromatherapy bath experience a deeply relaxing, calming and refreshing experience naturally.

Aromatherapy Bath Products

There is a tremendous variety of essential oil bath products available that contain the natural ingredients that are most beneficial. Readily available aromatherapy bath products include:

  • Bath salts and powders are simply added to running bath water

  • Essential Oils may be directly added to bath water

  • Soaps or bathing gels made from essential oils can also be used to cleanse the body, relax tired muscles and relieve stress.

  • Creams and lotions containing essential oils may be used during or after the bath to cleanse and condition the skin

Ready to Develop a Healthy Habit?

Aromatherapy treatments are most likely to be effective if you take the time to make use of them often. Too often, we fail to schedule time for ourselves to rest and rejuvenate naturally. We then pay the price by becoming ill, looking awful, and feeling worse. Make a commitment to taking care of yourself with an aromatherapy bath at least once a week. Once you experience the effects of deep relaxation and natural stress relief, it will quickly become a habit you can feel good about developing.
