Aromatherapy Air Freshener
Interested in trying aromatherapy, but not sure you want to invest the time or money in learning how to use essential oils? Experience the benefits aromatherapy has to offer the convenient, cost-effective way with an aromatherapy air freshener. You can choose from a wide variety of essential oil based air fresheners that can soothe or energize your mind, body and spirit.

What Exactly is Aromatherapy?

Aromatherapy makes use of natural plant based oils to treat the body through sensual application. Ancient civilizations practiced aromatherapy, and herbs and plant derivatives have been used to treat physical, mental and spiritual ailments for thousands of years. Today, individuals seek aromatherapy treatments from alternative medical centers, individual practitioners, spas and even at home.

Essential oils may be applied in a variety of ways. Aromatherapy baths or massages are a wonderful way to experience the relaxation and soothing affect essential oils have on the body and mind. Aromatherapy may involve inhaling oils, or applying them to the skin via compresses. An aromatherapy air freshener is just one of many methods aromatherapy can work for you.

Are all Aromatherapy Products Effective?

While you may enjoy some of the benefits aromatherapy has to offer by utilizing virtually any essential oil product, all are not created equal. The most effective aromatherapy products are those consisting of pure, raw essential oils derived from natural resources. Aromatherapy practitioners insist synthetic oils simply do not produce the same effects as the natural varieties. Certainly, aromatherapy as practiced since ancient times has relied primarily on natural oil sources.

While an aromatherapy air freshener may offer an easy, inexpensive way to experience some of the benefits essential oils can provide, most do contain synthetic ingredients either in substitution for natural ones or in addition to them. Commercially produced aromatherapy air fresheners do still offer some benefits, however. The scent of lavender or juniper is likely to create a soothing atmosphere in your home that promotes relaxation and stress-relief regardless of the source. At the same time, aromatherapy air fresheners are a great way to become familiar with various essential oil scents that may or may not be agreeable as part of more comprehensive treatment.

Although aromatherapy is generally considered safe to practice at home, it makes sense to expose yourself to any new scented product gradually. Use care to avoid the discomfort of a disagreeable scent or an unexpected allergic reaction. Keep in mind, too that pets may be particularly sensitive to air fresheners and may require extra ventilation in their area when any air freshening products are used.
