The Soy Aromatherapy Candle Alternative to Paraffin and Beeswax

AUTHOR: Mary Littleton

Learn the Power of Aromatherapy
Soy Aromatherapy Candle
For crafting your own candles, soy wax offers a particularly good alternative to traditional beeswax and paraffin. Soy wax was researched and invented by Michael Richards as a natural, cost-effective alternative to petroleum and beeswax. Over the years, the soy wax candle industry has expanded considerably as more and more individuals seek to craft and burn candles from vegetable-based wax.

If you’ve tried soy candles, you’re probably aware of several of their advantages. If you haven’t tried them yet, you can look forward to enjoying:
  • A much longer burning candle that outlasts paraffin and beeswax by as much as 2 to 1
  • A cleaner burning wax which leaves less soot and residue on candleholders than paraffin or beeswax
  • The production of far fewer allergens and toxic byproducts during burning, in particular when compared to paraffin wax
  • An easy to clean product should wax spills occur (removal from carpets or cloths simply requires hot water and detergent)
  • Making use of a renewable resource (soybeans) vs. petroleum (paraffin) that is environmentally safe, biodegradable, and non-toxic

The Advantages of a Soy Aromatherapy Candle

In addition to all the wonderful benefits of soy candles in general, soy wax is particularly well suited for crafting aromatherapy candles. This is due to its superior ability to carry fragrances. Many individuals find they need less essential oil when making a soy aromatherapy candle than with paraffin or beeswax counterparts. Not only do soy wax candles support the scent of essential oils particularly well, there are no byproducts emitted during burning to interfere with oils’ therapeutic properties.

When crafting your own soy aromatherapy candle, consider using an all natural wick to further reduce contamination. Cotton and hemp wicks are both excellent choices for soy aromatherapy candle use.

Soy Aromatherapy Candle Making Supplies

For crafting soy aromatherapy candles, the most cost-effective resource is a wholesaler or bulk supplier of containers, soy wax, and cotton wicks. You may be fortunate enough to have a candle-making supply store in your local vicinity. If not, consider purchasing your soy candle supplies online.

There is a multitude of quality soy candle supply vendors to choose from. If you are selecting a new internet based soy candle supplier, start slowly to ensure your complete satisfaction before placing a large order. Speak to a customer service representative if at all possible regarding the source of their materials and their satisfaction guarantees.
